Richard Gilbert at Wallspace, All Hallows on the Wall

A few years ago we exhibited a small selection of these huge and impressive heads by Richard Gilbert.  Envisage is an exhibition  of 14  heads, curated by Wallspace in the beautiful setting of All Hallows on the Wall.  Each of these sometimes fearsome heads is deliberately made using different materials.

Atta Kwami at The British Museum

We are delighted to report that Atta Kwami’s painting,  ‘Kokrobite’, has been acquired for their African Collection by the British Museum

and is now installed at the entrance to the Sainsbury Galleries at the Museum.  Atta Kwami is currently on a 3 months Philip Ravenhill Fellowship at The National Museum of African Art in Washington.

Lisa Wright wins 2009 National Open Art Competition

We are delighted to announce that Lisa Wright has won the 2009 National Open Art Competition for her painting ‘Shadow of a King’  This was one of  the paintings from ‘The Histories’ series, following her residency with the Royal Shakespeare Company for Michael Boyd’s production of the 8 plays in the History Cycle .  In the last few months Lisa has also had work selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Threadneedle Prize and the Lynn Painter-Stainers  Prize.

Her next exhibition at the Beardsmore Gallery will be in the Spring of 2010.  Please contact the gallery for further details.
